It’s black water. That’s a clear bottle. Full review soon.
Have you heard of the story of the Aztec King, King Moctezuma I Ilhuicamina, who sought a cure for his ill daughter? He followed rumors of a restorative springs, deep in a mountain range, held secret from society. The king found this source of mineral water eventually; he took his daughter to bathe and drink the clean sparkling liquid. She was cured, and regained her happiness, strength, and health.
Topo Chico still uses this source of water today, as they have been doing since the 1890’s. The enchanted springs in the Cerro del Silla mountains near Monterrey, Mexico is exclusive and locked-down from visitors in order to preserve the water’s purity. The earth’s tectonics have blessed this land with quarries of limestone, which contributes to the mineral properties of this water.
Don’t get it twisted — the “Little Mole” springs provides Topo Chico with water that has real health benefits. Its minerals are refreshing and contribute pure contents with every sip. In fact, Topo Chico provided water for some of the first Coca-Cola recipes.
The glass bottle is tinted based on the flavor… available in transparent to green. I don’t always have a bottle opener with me, but the heritage is what’s behind the design. It’s been the same and has been a staple, so why change it? Oh, and speaking of availability, only about 28 states in the USA have Topo Chico. If you’re lucky enough, get some, and you won’t go back to anything else for a mixer, refresher, or hydrating water.
Alkaline water exemplified. The Essentia brand has made a name for itself by claiming to be more hydrating, electrifying, and thirst-quenching than other waters. They’re right.
Sourced from Garden Grove, California, this high pH, quality water will genuinely leave you feeling more refreshed. Higher metal contents mean a “cleaner” feeling in your mouth. A palette cleanser. The best part — it’s available almost anywhere in the United States. And for the disbelievers, read up on their double-blind experiments.
Unfortunately, they’ve stuck to plastic bottles and plastic caps. They’re recyclable, though, and all of their bottles are PET-1. As always, the plastic used for packaging is meant to minimize formation of microorganisms and risks of contamination.
Essentia sponsors athletes, fashion designers, and celebrities. They’ve made waves in popular culture and have made fitness and healthiness a centralized part of their message. As part of “overachieving” (drawing parallels to their higher than usual water ionization), the “Essentia Nation” highlights inspiring stories of people doing the most.
Starbucks-owned Ethos Water exemplifies good faithed community service and philanthropic efforts by large corporations. Whether it’s for the tax write off or not, every purchase sets aside $0.05 to the Ethos Water Fund, supporting water sanitation and hydration services in countries like Tanzania, colombia, and Indonesia.
Ethos tastes clean and its slightly alkaline pH pairs well with coffee. don’t be too impressed as Ethos may as well be your over-the-counter local brand. it’s hardly a luxurious water. I use it as a palette cleanser of sorts so as to deter my coffee breath when speaking to my clients in person.
Ethos has faced controversy, as its source has been noted to come from california, drought-ridden for many years in the recent past. it’s no help that their bottles are fully plastic… so be sure to properly recycle it. the standard plastic bottle comes with a transparent sticker with a world outline & a gentle reminder of its purpose.
The Acqua Panna source is located high in the Apennine Mountains of Tuscany, Italy, to the north of Florence.
The recycled glass bottle of Acqua Panna exhibits fine Italian dining. They boast that their craftsmanship is so pure that it resembles art. The Panna taste is unique; it’s more in tune with nature & feels of pristine condition. This water engages the five senses, leaving a sweeter taste than regular tap. these are the most impressive components of acqua panna.
the tamper-evident bottlecap feels cheap and is made of plastic. the brand is also a subsidiary of nestle, whose global reach makes their unpopular political track record with animal welfare difficult to overlook. these are the most detrimental qualities of acqua panna.
I drank it with a pudding and brownie cup at a dessert restaurant in Qatar, dipndip. the slightly alkaline pH paired nicely with the slightly acidic chocolate pudding and brownies.
